Sam Carr at this time became host of a powerful demon by the name of Sam who worked for General Jack Cosmo. This was the demon which David refers to his later letters to the news and police. However, these efforts are being held back by a lack of deeper understanding of the dynamics of supply chain collaboration among managers and stakeholders. Therefore, research was needed to overcome this challenge. Fawcett, Jones, and Fawcett (2012) conducted a study about supply chain trust and collaborative innovation between PG and Walmart[2]. The aim of the research was to determine the managers and key stakeholders understanding of the nature of trust. The study undertook to establish whether managers from either company were fully aware of the desired nature of trust which they ought to build and how it can impact their co-operation. The study also aimed at increasing their understanding of the critical aspects of trust building. By doing this, the study will identify the strengths and the flaws of the current collaborative supply chain between PG and Walmart and make recommendations that increase collaboration and innovation. The research was conducted by Stanley Fawcett, Stephen Jones, and Amydee Fawcett. The three are business management scholars at renowned American universities. However, the three researchers were contracted by the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University[3]. The University is one of the leading research partners of PG and has been accredited with some studies that have helped the company continue to grow. Indiana University has also carried out several studies touching on Walmart. This is, therefore, the reason why it was chosen in this case involving the two companies. The research was used to identify the critical pillars of building supply chain trust between the two companies. The findings of the research were used to indicate the level of awareness among managers of the two companies in relation to supply chain cooperation. This indeed helped the managers to identify ways of improvement through building trust and efficiency in the supply chain. Considering that PG is one of the leading suppliers of a wide range of brands found on the shelves of Walmart, this study would help the company increase their supplies on a platform of improved trust, collaboration, and innovation. Walmart would also benefit in equal measure. The research was conducted using a two-stage qualitative methodology. This approach involved conducting a thorough literature review in an exploratory framework. In this regard, the study evaluated key issues such as interpersonal and firm-based trust[4]. Secondly, interviews were used to evaluate the level of understanding on supply chain alliance and the growth of supply chain collaboration frameworks among companies[5]. To maintain consistency, semi-structured questionnaires were used to all the interviews. These statistics were tabulated in the end with the major variables and indicators aligned in line with the respondents' feedback. This would help in data integration and analysis in the end. The findings of the research indicated that 55% of the companies had limited information regarding trust and collaborative information on a double-edged setting. The results showed that most companies adopted limited trust. They preferred a one-way flow of trust at the expense of mutual trust. The findings also indicated that managers had little information on how to build trust and collaboration, with most of them citing the supply schedule and pricing as the key aspects. On the other hand, the outcome also indicated that managers had little practical experience and the resources necessary for constituting supply chain trust and collaboration[6]. The study thus came up with a trust matrix against which the key variables were measured. The study recommended a trust maturity framework that would help cure the current disparities and increase performance based on supply chain trust. Overall, this research is straightforward and tackles the key aspects in the most comprehensive way. Although there is little statistical data, the study exhausts the key concepts relevantly and brings out the intended outcome. The results reflect what had been identified in the hypotheses. On the other hand, the study stays in line with the problem and solution model by giving a breakdown of the complex issues and then merging them with the respective remedies. In entirety, this study would help Walmart and PG to assess their chain relationship and apply improvement measures[7]. It is an ideal blueprint for the maximization of benefits beyond the obvious in any supply chain. Discussing the nature of poverty in the United States is important because through understanding we will find solutions. Poverty has been defined as a state of deprivation of goods and services that essential to the maintenance of an adequate standard of living in a given society. Although the concept of poverty is considered relative, it cannot be denied that it magnifies the problem concerning inequality in a particular society (Levitan). The struggle of poverty impacts people’s day-to-day life. It is easy to hide some things in life but, poverty is not one of them. There are 633,782 homeless people in cities throughout the United States (St. Francis). Poor people have no place to live and are being exposed to nature’s elements, bacteria, and harmful illness can cause threat to the health of these individuals. The environment is being impacted as well, because there is nowhere to put waste or garbage other than on the ground. This is why it is important to gain insight and understand poverty so that we can help these people and the earth. When a person is living in poverty it is humiliating and weighs on an individual’s self-esteem as well as their families and is very difficult to overcome. Poverty is not always a choice, but it is a situation that can be prevented. Without housing assistance people are forced to stay in shelters and if they don’t make to a shelter by a certain  time they go without a warm place to sleep and without food that night. Some people wait in long lines all day for a spot at the shelter only to be turned away because there is just not enough space for everyone. A good way to alleviate or even eliminate this problem is to build more shelters or use some of the abandoned buildings in poverty stricken neighborhoods for the poor people to sleep in. Have stipulations in these shelters that individuals and their families are guaranteed more than one night as long as they abide by guidelines provided, kind of like a contract. So they are not just getting help they are in a sense helping their selves. Different situations have different solutions, there is a difference between a person living in poverty because you’re a war veteran and just having a hard time and living in poverty because you are and addict and everything you have is spent on drugs and alcohol. In these newly built or refurbished shelters with these stipulations, programs can be offered to help transition into a better way of living. Yes, then there is the issue of money and where will it come from. Nobody has money lying around just to give away so charity events, fundraisers, donations, volunteers and maybe even some help from government agencies would help. The children of these families living in poverty suffer most. Research shows that poverty in the first five years of a child’s life changes the life of a child compared to if they were to live in poverty later in life. This is because poverty is associated with poor nutrition; poor nutrition leads to lower intelligence, bad physical development, and poor immune systems. â€Å"Children deprived of proper nutrition during the most informative years score much lower on tests of vocabulary, reading comprehension, arithmetic, and general knowledge. The more severe the poverty a child faces, the lower his or her nutritional level is likely to be (BrownPollitt).† Many children that are labeled bad kids with behavioral problems are really just lacking nutritional value. A child that is hungry is more likely to act ou t and have greater difficulty focusing than a well fed child. There are government programs that offer assistance with nutrition such as W.I.C and Healthy Schools but the guidelines are very strict and fall short in making sure that every child living in poverty has adequate nutrition. So, this problem can be solved by changing the guidelines and making it easier for a family living in poverty to feed our future. People might say this is not my problem, I’m not living in poverty  so what does this have to do with me? Truth be told everyone is affected by poverty. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, â€Å"There is nothing more dangerous than to build a society, with a large segment of people in that society, who feel they have no stake in it; who feel they have nothing to lose. People, who have stake in their society, protect that society, but when they don’t have it, they unconsciously want to destroy it (Dr.MartinLutherKingJr.).† According to the history of our nation, the safety and equality of the people of our society relies on everyone individually and as a whole nation as one. If that’s the way the world is meant to be then why are people living in poverty treated so differently? Upper class doesn’t make you better than a person living in poverty, money doesn’t make you bad or good and the same goes for poverty. The founders of our nation fought hard for a country where everyone is treated as a person equally but, that is not the case when thousands of people still live in poverty every day. â€Å"Anybody that has ever spent a morning at the Department of Motor Vehicles or stood in the line at the Post Office should understand that simply because the government is handling the problem, doesn’t mean it’s being handled properly (St. Francis)†. But not everyone will achieve their dreams and some, because of sad circumstances lose their grip on their dream and fall into a state of disappointment. Langston Hughes poem relates to the dreams of Mama, Ruth, and Walter in Lorraine Hansberry’s play A Raisin in the Sun.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ruth has to listen to Walter’s extravagant dreams of being rich and powerful all the time and know that these dreams will never happen. They are very poor and Travis must sleep on the couch because they only have a two-room apartment. Ruth’s dream of having a baby seems crushed when she finds out that she’s pregnant and realizes they can’t support another in the household. When mama and Walter argue about Ruth getting an abortion Walter says she wouldn’t do anything like that as she walks in, she says â€Å"Yes I would too Walter. I gave her a five-dollar down payment.† (1.2.75). Great Power Hegemony

Name: Sayed Jamaluddin Firozi, St no: 1B1019 Great power hegemony There is a question that which system (empire, balance of power, concert of power or great power hegemony) provides the best conditions for advancing peace, prosperity and civilization? There are several opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of each system and the functions, abilities and disabilities of them to maintaining the peace and stability in international arena. But I want to argue on hegemonic power system as a preventer of war among states and a maintainer of peace as comparison to other suggested types of system for advancing peace, stability and civilization in all over the world. Hegemonic power system is the best system for advancing peace, prosperity and preventing war among states comparing to other types of systems such as empire, balance of power, and concert of power. In this paper I will argue that as history of international relations show most wars and conflicts among states occurred in a lack of a hegemonic power because a hegemonic power try to act as a policeman and don’t let the states to start war. If war happens mostly the super power will enter the war to stop it because the hegemonic power does see itself as a policeman to have the right to intervene. So, hegemonic power is good for making peace and stability in the world. There are many reasons that great power hegemony system could be the best option for developing peace and preventing the war. It is clear that two world wars happened in the absence of a great hegemonic power. For example if in the 1910s there was great power hegemony the First World War may did not happen. In addition, hegemonic power system naturally makes its allies and don’t want to go just for its own interest but also look for others as well. In contrast in balance of power each actor in the system try to pursue its national interests and want to increase the power in terms of military or other resources. Furthermore, great power hegemony can be very helpful in cooperation among states, because the hegemonic power bear the most cost of transaction in the system. For example USA as a hegemonic state â€Å"pays the 22 percent regular expenditure of United Nation and 25 percent of the budget while UN goes for peacekeeping operations around the world. On the other hand, â€Å"the system of balance of power doesn’t seem to contribute the cooperation among states but in contrast it pushes the states to go for a competition and armament race because each state in the system will increase its capabilities to make the balance in the system. Eventually this competition will lead nation state to build its arm forces†. However, there are some arguments about the weakness of hegemonic power to prevent states from going to war. They argue that hegemonic power has its own limitations in term of internal and external barriers to go as policeman around the world. This arguments see very good and logic. But they don’t have any proposal that which system could be the best to make the world more peaceful and prosperous. So, despite these points of view the other types of system such as balance of power or concert of power likely aren’t good replacement for great power hegemony system to be succeeded for making peace and stability in the world. So I will try to give more examples from history of international relations to show the other systems (empire and balance of power or concert of power) couldn’t make a stable and peaceful world. But mostly went to war and there was fear of attack from other country in the era of those systems. Analyzing Old Spice Advertisements these days use many different techniques in order to sell a product. The Old Spice Company uses several methods to convey a message and sell their product. Old Spice commercials are well known for using the famous Isaiah Mustafa, wrapped in just a towel, to talk about the company’s product. While Mustafa walks and talks, the background and setting of the commercial changes and the actor never loses eye contact. The product is always shown throughout the entire commercial. By combining all the elements of gender stereotyping, sexual imagery, and racial innuendoes, Old Spice is able to convey a message to sell their hygienic products. When it comes to attracting the right audience, Old Spice knows what†¦show more content†¦The sexual appeal in the Old Spice commercials is very evident. Throughout the entire ad, the central character does not have any clothing on except for a towel. Also, the undying eye contact, never ending perfect po sture and the same central location of the bathroom also has an equal sexual appeal. Isaiah Mustafa is very buff, tall, and has the ultimate sexy voice. His eyes, stance, lack of clothing and voice draw you in like a moth to a light. The overall appeal to the character is unquestionable, you cannot help but stare. If you cannot help but pay attention to a commercial, then you will also pay attention to the product being addressed (citation 2). In this way, the company is able to grab your attention and keep it long enough to get their product out there. The racial innuendo in the Old Spice commercial is probably the least evident technique used to draw potential customers in. There is no denying that the main character is African-American. Without the use of this particular actor and his race, the commercial just would not be the same. Usually in any voice over or previously recorded advertisement, there is a black man speaking. They know how to enunciate the right words and have the â€Å"voice† to go along with it (citation 1). This might be a racial stereotype but it works for this particular commercial really well.
